Literature, Film and Theatre, One-year Programme
60 ECTS credits - 1 year - Kristiansand
LIFILTE60
LIFILTE60
60
Higher Education Entrance Qualification
The programme combines creative work in the
form of the presentations and artistic expressions with a more
theoretical approach to literature, film and theatre. A large
part of the work is carried out through group projects.
The programme consists of two courses:
Autumn:
Text studies and
narrative explorations in literature, film and theatre (30 ECTS
credits)
Spring:
Theme and genre
in different narrative forms (30 ECTS credits)
The spring course normally builds on the
autumn course. Subject to available places applicants who meet
the admission requirements can apply for admission to the
spring course.
The programme is a
collaboration between The Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty
of Fine Arts.
Arrangements for the recognition of prior learning are described in the information on the institution under "General arrangements for the recognition of prior learning (formal, informal and non-formal)".
For a description of the examination regulations, see the Examination Regulations of the University of Agder.
For information about the Norwegian grading system, see ECTS credits and grades. Specific information on grading for each course is found in the individual course descriptions.
The Examination Regulations of the University of Agder regulate the graduation requirements for each programme of study.
On successful completion of the study programme the
students should be able to
- combine the creative work
in literature, film and theatre with analytical and theoretical
reflection.
- work with narratology, dramaturgy,
theme and genre in various forms of expression, create their
own expressions and interpret the expressions of others. The
interplay between theoretical knowledge and practical
exploration will give the students a basis for working
creatively with projects aimed at literary, cinematic and
theatrical presentations.
- to compare literature,
film and theatre, discuss similarities and differences in form
and content, and develop this insight through creative
work.
The teaching methods alternate between the
introductory lectures, seminars where the students themselves
present material in different ways, and supervised projects.
During the spring semester (LFT101-1) the students go on a
field trip to see the theatre productions and follow courses in
film and theatre. The choosen destination is often Copenhagen.
The assessment methods for each course vary. Please consult the course descriptions for details
The one-year programme is an integral part of the BA in Literature, Film and Theatre, which gives the students the option of further specialisation in each of the disciplines. The programme prepares the students for work in the cultural sector and in schools. The one-year programme may be included as an elective subject in a range of bachelor´s programmes in the humanities or fine arts. It may also be included as the fourth year in the General Teacher Education Programme (30 ECTS credits may be included in the new Primary and Lower Secondary Teacher Education Programme).
