Preliminary Course for Engineers
Autumn

On successful completion of the course, the student will
- have a fundamental insight to scientific, technological and societal issues and challenges related to the field of engineering
- have knowledge to basic chemical concepts and terms
- have gained an understanding of chemistry´s significance with regard to technical and societal issues
- understand technological and societal change processes
- acquire a basis for regarding the engineering profession in an ethical context
Technology, business and societal development, role of the engineer and engineering work, chemistry as the cornerstone of technology, ethics and norms, interdisciplinary work and projects.
Lectures, exercises, project work/interdisciplinary work.
The portfolio must be assessed to Pass before the student can take the written examination. Information will be given in Fronter at the start of the course.
5-hour individual written final examination ( 50 % contribution to final assessment) and portfolio (50 % contribution to final assessment). The portfolio must be assessed to Pass to take the written examination. Graded assessement.
