On completion of the course the student have knowledge of:
- Child minding centres as a social institution and as part of the political system
- The pre-school teacher's roles in a sociology of professions context
- Pedagogical work connectd to the filed of Local Environment and Society
- Socialisation
Child protection
The subject should contribute to clarify the childminding centres multilateral function in society; supervision, care and learning. Social studies will show the childminding centres as a societal institution connected to political questions and to the centres as an arena for learning.
Central topics:
- Sociology of profession perspectives
- Societal institutions and childminding centres place in the political, social and cultural structure
- Socialisation theories, formation of opinion and development of identity connected to the intention of the filed of Local Environment and Society
- Child protection and childminding centres
Lectures are given in auditoriums. Students are to work in groups with parts of the sullabus and present their work to the other students. The topic must be approved by the instructor.
It is expected that the students work with topics in practice that can be connected to the field of Local Environment and Society
Approved interdisciplinary project work - completed as group work. Presentation of childminding political issues.
4 hour written school examination. Graded assessment.
