Upon succesful completion of this course, the students will have acquired basic knowledge about the characteristics of economic thought, what ethics is and the relations between the two.
As economics basically is prioritizing various alternatives of limited resources, the roles of individuals, companies, organizations and public sector - the understanding of the consequences of this is emphasised.
Business ethics and corporate social responsibility are equally emphasised.
The development in economic thought from Adam Smith up until the present will be examined, leading to the field of business ethics, illustrated by current cases from the news media. The concept of ethics will be more closely discussed, especially in relation to economic thought and practice. Ethical aspects in the use of research results and other sources is also covered.
2 hours of lectures and 2 hours of group work each week
Approved assignment. More information will be given in Fronter at the start at the semester.
