NV-101-G Medical and biological topics 1
On successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- explain human anatomy and physiology
- explain normal ageing processes, functional alterations and dementia among the elderly
- possess knowledge about how to administer medication
ECTS credits distribution based on the National Curriculum:
- Anatomy, physiology and biochemistry: 2 credits
- General pathology, disease and pharmacology: 3 credits
The course will make the students acquire basic knowledge and understanding of natural sciences and medical topics to be able to practise nursing.
Topics:
- Biochemistry
- Anatomy and physiology of the organs/organ structure
- Gerontology, geriatrics and dementia among the elderly
- Administering medication
Lectures and group work
A graded 4-hour written individual examination
