NV-101-G Medical and biological topics 1

On successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  • explain human anatomy and physiology
  • explain normal ageing processes, functional alterations and dementia among the elderly
  • possess knowledge about how to administer medication

ECTS credits distribution based on the National Curriculum:

  • Anatomy, physiology and biochemistry: 2 credits
  • General pathology, disease and pharmacology: 3 credits

The course will make the students acquire basic knowledge and understanding of natural sciences and medical topics to be able to practise nursing.

Topics:

  • Biochemistry
  • Anatomy and physiology of the organs/organ structure
  • Gerontology, geriatrics and dementia among the elderly
  • Administering medication

Lectures and group work

A graded 4-hour written individual examination
