MU-110-D1 Music in Early Childhood Education

Norwegian.
On successful completion of this course, the students should be able to:
- develop, communicate and guide music activities in Kindergarten.
- perform music for children in Kindergarten
- develop and guide music activities based on childrens play
- see music as an important subject in interdisciplinary projects
- use theoretical knowledge and didactic reflections
- communicate songs, singing games and rigmaroles from children`s culture
The students will acquire the attitude, knowledge and practical skills which are essential for the musical learning and development of children in pre-school age.
The students will acquire knowledge of music theory and children´s musical development. They will also receive knowledge of how to guide different music activities in kindergarten. Training in guitar or djembe and in singing is a central part of the teaching.
The course makes use of lectures, group seminars, practical work and individual work.
