MA-138-1 Mathematics Applied in Business Administration A

On successful completion of the course, the student should be able to
- solve linear equations.
- analyse functions of one and more variables
- use mathematics on simple finance and economic problems.
Provide students with a mathematical foundation for studies in economics and business administration. Provide an elementary introduction to functions of one and more variables, with emphasis on elasticity, derivatives, and conditions for local extrema with and without constraints. Introduce examples from business and microeconomics which will recur in later course modules.
Lectures, work in small groups.
Students must pass the compulsory assignemets in order to take the examination.
A 4-hour written examination. Graded assessment.
