KH-106-1 Art in Early Childhood Education

Norwegian.
Upon completion of the art course, the student will:
- have developed aesthetic attention, creative
ability and practical skills
- have developed the
ability to experiment, analyse and solve problems
-
have attained insight in the subject as a means of expression
of children's experiences and self-awareness
- have
developed the ability to experience, understand and use art and
sculpture
- be able to see the possibilities for
using art as a central subject in multi-disciplinary
work/project work
- be able to use aesthetic
documentation as a part of practical work
- be able
to assess the significance of the physical and visual
environment as a framework for creative activity

have attained knowledge of art's significance in terms of
gender, multiculturalism and children with special talents and
needs.
The students will acquire knowledge of the materials, techniques, tools and aesthetic means that are appropriate to use. They will also acquire knowledge of children´s visual language.
Course contents:
- art, media and art traditions
- workshops (clay, wood, textiles and illustrations)
- didactic and pedagogic
- the physical environment of the kindergarten
The course makes use of lectures, group seminars, practical work and individual work.
Compulsory attendance.
Compulsory teaching practice.
- compulsory assignments
- 4 hour written exam
- Practical exam (for 1/3 of the students).
Assessed on the basis A-F (with A as the highest level and F as fail).
Practical and theoretical.
First cycle.
Third year of bachelor`s programme.
