FRI109-1 Basic Outdoor Activities Theory
At the end of the course students are expected to have acquired a theoretical platform in the traditions of Norwegian Outdoor activities (friluftsliv), which cultural inheritances we develop, the functions and responsibilities we have when using outdoor activities for teaching, development and experience for various user groups.
At the end of course students should also have a theoretical, didactic platform on how to coach, teach, guide and lead different user groups in Norwegian outdoor activities (Friluftsliv).
Outdoor activities history in Norway
- The environment in a cultural historic perspective.
- The environments special character and tolerance / tolerability.
- The development of society, people s lifestyles and relationship to the environment.
- Nature as an arena for health and recreation.
- Nature as an arena for stimulation, development and learning.
- The natural environment as a resource for tourism / business development.
- Environmental management.
- Didactic relations.
- The roll of the leader.
- Work methods and choices in relation to aims.
- Different user groups special character and requirement.
- User groups with special needs.
Teaching will be given in the form of blocks throughout the semester. First an introductory course at campus followed by field trips and finally a project period where teaching will be given as coaching in project work.
Possibly there may be short excursions.
Mandatory parts of the module must be approved.
The practice/observation in school /camp school / ideal organisation or company and the report must be passed.
Requirements for the report format, content and volume will be given at the start of the module.
