Higher Education Entrance Qualification.
It is a necessary prerequisite that students have an interest in languages and practical communication. The programme is aimed at a broad target group: students who wish to strengthen their communicative skills, theoretically as well as in practice.
The programme gives an introduction to the most central issues of communication and aims to develop both theoretical and practical competence. Students study texts in a broad sense, within different genres and media, and are trained to become conscious producers of text and information. Text-based presentation is central to the study programme, but students work with both verbal and visual forms of expression within print and Internet-based media.
Arrangements for the recognition of prior learning are described in the information on the institution under "General arrangements for the recognition of prior learning (formal, informal and non-formal)".
For a description of the examination regulations, see the Examination Regulations of the University of Agder.
For information about the Norwegian grading system, see ECTS credits and grades. Specific information on grading for each course is found in the individual course descriptions.
The Examination Regulations of the University of Agder regulate the graduation requirements for each programme of study.
Upon completion of the programme, students
should
- have knowledge about how texts are structured
and used in different processes in communication
-
demonstrate insight into the media´s role in society
-
be able to analyze and compare texts and current events in
communication
- be able to show critical and creative
assessment regarding their own and others´ communicative
processes
- be able to communicate minor projects from
an early stage to a final product that is ready for use in both
printed media and IT.
The courses offer a variety of issues, and study and teaching methods also vary considerably. There is a combination of lectures, seminars, group work and individual assignments. Instruction is based on current research findings.
Written in-school examinations, group examinations, individual home assignments, projects and individual portfolios. Examination forms for individual courses are provided in course descriptions.
The programme may be included in several Bachelor
programms at Agder University. Combined with other courses in
related fields, it can also provide access to postgraduate
programmes in such fields as languages, culture or
communication. The programme is relevant for a number of
positions in fields such as public relations, journalism and
other forms of media along with instruction.
(when
