To pass the entrance exam the students have to hold very good skills on their main instrument, in music theory, and they have to have a good ear.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the programme students are expected to

- achieve professional qualifications in fine arts

- achieve didactic qualifications and social competence

- adapt learning material and methods of work to pupil's qualifications and interests

- initiate cooperation with various cultural institutions

Teaching methods

This programme is organized in periods where practical work, lectures and seminars are included in a totality. The programme has its focus on practical work. Most of the practical work takes place in groups. Compulsory attendance will be required for parts of the courses (see course description).

The students will receive guidance to help to develop their own personal skills.

Practice training for 12-14 weeks is included in the programme.

Student exchange A study abroad programme may be included in the 6th semester of the programme. Students may spend one semester at a university with which Faculty of Fine Arts has an agreement. Contact Student mobility adviser for further information about current exchange institutions.

Occupational profiles of graduates and access to further studies

This programme qualifies for work with music in Primary and Secondary School, and for work in School of Music and Arts.

The programme qualifies graduates for the Master`s degree programme in Music performance at the University of Agder.
