Advanced Programme in Composition and Instrumentation, Classical

Completed basic music studies. Admission possibilities for students with 60 credits in music, passed entrance test in music theory and aural training and documented knowledge of composition/instrumentation.
The course relates to the following subjects:
- instrumentation: emphasis on developing creative and practical skills writing for solo instrument and different ensembles
- composition with form theory
- structural analysis: analysis of contemporary music in different main areas

The Examination Regulations of the University of Agder regulate the graduation requirements for each programme of study.
On successful completion of the programme students are expected to develop and communicate music on a high level.
The study programme is organised as a part-time study lasting two semesters. Teaching is organised as group lessons and individual work with supervision. Attendance is compulsory.

The programme may be included in the 3-year bachelor programme in Music Performance, or it may be chosen as continuing professional development in Arrangement and Composition.
