Admission requirements are minimum 3-year college or university education in health and/or social welfare, and at least 1 year relevant work practice with patients/clients after the education which is the appliers admission requirements. Admission for applicants with other relevant (minimum) 3-year college or university education can be admitted after individual assignment.
The study programme contains two modules each of 30 credits: 1: Basal sexology (the courses SEX400-1 and SEX401-1) 2: Sexological counselling (the courses SEX402-1 and SEX403-1) Please see course descriptions.
The study programme offers a fundamental and all-round knowledge in sexology based on research results of current interest, and also clinical and pedagogical experience. Sexological research and clinical work are expected to expand vigorously which also will cause the need of further education. 1. Basal sexology 2. Sexological counselling Learning outcomes Basal sexology: After completing the study programme the student will possess basal knowledge about human sexuality and expressions of sexuality the ability to critically and ethically evaluate the different expressions of sexuality the ability to be conscious of own and other's attitudes, values and emotional responses concerning sexuality the ability to present and treat the human sexuality as an integrated part of the individual's circumstances of life the ability to communicate/inform justly and freely about sexual topics the ability to identify and problematise knowledge and values presented through legislation and media the ability to submit knowledge about this subject which can form the basis of future sexological counselling, treatment, education and research Learning outcomes Sexological counselling: After completing the study programme the student will possess knowledge about the first three stages of the PLISSIT model (Permission, Limited Information og Spesific Suggestions). The student will be able to work in the light of this model with own profession as a starting point. the ability to recognise and discuss sexual problems within their own professinal fields knowledge about relevant professionals working with sexual problems of medical, psychological and social character and cooperate with these
The programme is structured with an inter-disciplinary objective. When several professional groups are represented in the student group the students are given opportunities for exchange of knowledge. Problem-based learning and guidance / advice will be used as educational methods in the course. Lectures will also be an important part of the tuition. Significant individual participation is expected in basic groups and self-studies. Language of instruction: Norwegian
Different forms of assessment will be used: examination at home, written school examination, oral examination and project work.
SEX400 must be passed before entering for the examination in SEX402. SEX400 and SEX401 must be passed before entering for the examination in SEX403.
The study programme qualifies for working as a sexological counsellor.
Qualification awarded None. 60 credits.
Students are admitted every other year. The next admittance is autumn 2009.
