The programme gives an introduction to literature for children and young adults and to reading promotion and the dissemination of literature. Focus will be on recent literature, including both fiction and non-fiction texts. The programme also covers films for children and young adults.
Arrangements for the recognition of prior learning are described in the information on the institution under "General arrangements for the recognition of prior learning (formal, informal and non-formal)".
For a description of the examination regulations, see the Examination Regulations of the University of Agder.
For information about the Norwegian grading system, see ECTS credits and grades. Specific information on grading for each course is found in the individual course descriptions.
The Examination Regulations of the University of Agder regulate the graduation requirements for each programme of study.
Most of the programme is delivered as distance learning/flexible teaching on the Internet, and is therefore available to students independently of where they live. Two optional tutorial meetings will be held in Kristiansand. There is no separate tuition fee for the programme outside the regular semester fee.
One final grade will be awarded, based on written examinations in the two course modules. See course description for details.
The programme aims to give the necessary professional basis for work as a school librarian in primary and lower secondary school. It may also provide useful general knowledge for teachers and librarians who wish to increase their knowledge of literature for children and young adults. The programme may be an integral part of the last year in the 4-year Programme in General Teacher Education and various other bachelor programmes. The programme is a free-standing programme, but may also be taken in conjunction with School Library Studies 1 and School Library Studies 3.
