Physical education 2 can be an optional part of the General Teacher Education Programme in the third or fourth year. To be admitted the student must have passed Physical Education 1 or similar. The programme can also be post-qualifying education for teachers.

Physical education has its distinctive character in physical activity through different forms of play, dance, sports and outdoor activities. The study programme has three main objectives: Teaching theory - knowledge and skills in physical education To be a teacher in physical education Co-operation and reflection The programme Physical Education 2 (please refer to IDR124) is split in three main topics: Activity and training theory Body, Training and Health Sports/physical activity, school and society

Studieplanramme

In the light of experience, knowledge and skills in sports, and after having completed the programme the student will: be able to plan, organise, carry out, coach and evaluate all-round physical activities for children and adolescents have basic knowledge of the importance physical activity and environment may have for the individual child´s development and health have acquired basic knowledge of the position and role of sport in society

Instruction will include lectures, theoretical and practical work in groups and project-oriented teaching. Fronter will be actively used as an instructional IT-tool. Student activity is aspired. Some of the instruction is organised in particular courses (skiing, skating, outdoor activities in the mountain). Lectures are optional, all other forms of instruction are mandatory. Active participation is expected in practical lessons. It will appear from the course brochure which lessons are mandatory. This will be handed out at start of the semester. There will be two weeks supervised practice in secondary school for third-year students in the General Teacher Education (ALU). ALU students who will have practice in this one-semester programme, must have passed: PRA007KRØV to have the programme approved as part of their teacher education. ALU students who take this one-semester programme in their 4th year, have to do a practice related assignment (course TFL008), which is equivalent to 14 days of work. Language of instruction: Norwegian

Assessment methods are project work, at-home examination and at-school examination.

The programme can be post-qualifying education for teachers. The study programme qualifies for the continuing education programme Physical Education and Sport. Qualification awarded None. 30 ECTS credits
