The prerequisite for admission to the MA programme is a completed BA degree, in which religious studies or religion and ethics are the major component (at least 80 credits, whereof at least 20 must be on level 2). Applicants with other religious studies such as science of religion may be admitted provided they have studies in Christianity of at least 45 credits.

The programme focuses on religious creed: its conflicts and interaction with social contexts and other philosophies of life. The programme offers flexibility and the profile of the degree is a matter of the student´s own choice, depending on what jobs or qualifications they are aiming at achieving. The programme comprises six courses and a master´s thesis with a related course in the science of theory and method. The six courses are stipulated to one year and the masters´ thesis and related course to one year. The first year consists of three compulsory and three elective courses. The compulsory introduction courses in the first year offer an overview of central fields, thus ensuring a common basis of knowledge. Normally four elective courses will be offered every year.
