The programme is a continuation of a three-year undergraduate education comprising 180 credits. The programme is relevant both for students wishing to go directly on from their undergraduate education as well as those persons who have been working for some time and who wish to strengthen both their formal and practical proficiency.
A good command of English is recommended as certain courses may be taught in English.

The Examination Regulations of the University of Agder regulate the graduation requirements for each programme of study.
The Master Programme in Public Policy and Management has a social science profile. It provides insight into structures and change processes in organisations, society and politics. The programme also provides knowledge and skills in planning, administration and implementation of measures. In addition, it provides in-depth studies in social science methodology and several areas of concentration.
Students may apply to go on student exchange as an alternative elective during the third semester of the programme. Please contact head of study programme.
The compulsory courses must normally be completed before the student will receive an advisor with regard to the Master's Thesis.
On completion of the programme candidates qualify for management positions in the public sector. In addition, candidates will have the necessary background for leadership in trade and industry, in non-profit or special interest organisations as well as agood basis for an international career and further studies both in Norway and abroad.
Successful completion of the programme awards the degree of Master of Public Policy and Management.
