Faculty of Engineering and Sciences has a number of cooperation agreements with foreign universities. The most appropriate partners in Mechatronics are the Technische Universität Dresden in Germany, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Aalborg University in Denmark and Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China. The Department has agreements for student exchange with all these four universities. It is possible for the students to take the 2nd, 3rd or 4th semester of the master´s program abroad.

A prerequisite is to have passed examinations corresponding to 70 study points in the Master programme, within the beginning of the term where the Master Thesis is to be written. Courses on which the Master Thesis builds upon, have to be assessed to Pass.

After successfully completed the master's degree, candidates will be able to go directly into the professional work as an engineer in various areas. The program is eligible for special positions in industry and business. The master´s program has direct relevance to the maritime and offshore construction and equipment-manufacturing or industrial activity, but the job opportunities are not limited to such activities. The program will also qualify for research that leads to a PhD in engineering in the field concerning management, regulation and development of mechanical components and systems. There are relevant doctoral programs at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Aalborg University, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and Linköping University in Sweden.

After successfully the master´s program, the student will be given the degree Master of Science - Mechatronics.
