One-year Programme in English, or English 1 and English 2, or the equivalent.
The programme builds on the knowledge of and familiarity with English language, literature and culture that students have obtained in the first year of study. The programme aims to provide them with better competence in English. There is focus on developing the students´ capability for critical thinking.
On completion of the programme students are expected to - have acquired a broad knowledge of the English language and its various forms of expression - be able to show insight into English literature and culture - be able to describe literary genres and epochs - show insight into cultural aspects, mainly by studying, analysing and discussing different texts - master English grammar and usage in practical contexts
The courses are given mainly as lectures and seminars.
Forms of assessment may vary from one course to the next. Please see the individual course descriptions for further information.
The programme gives the necessary qualifications to teach English in upper secondary school. It qualifies for admission to master's programmes in English.
