Qualified teachers (pre-school, general, subject-specific teachers as well as teachers with a minimum of one year's practical-pedagogical education) Students attending the General Teacher Education Programme must have completed the first three years.
Students will receive an introduction to central concepts and empirical research within the field of special education. Focus will be on normality, differentiation and disability. Legal and administrative initatives in pre-school and school will be studied. Further, insight will be given into methods relating to teaching and learning in work with children, adolescents and adults with special needs. Children and adolescents from ethnic minorities with special needs in education will also be discussed.
After having completed the programme,students should - have basic knowledge and be able to plan and accomplish initatives within the area of special needs education - be conscious regarding ethical challenges with regard to the legal system, practice and co-operation on different levels - be able to reflect upon practice
Lectures, discussion groups, group work and individual study.
Individual written examination, individual oral examination and group report.
The programme qualifies students for working with children, adolescents or adults in pre-school, school and other places where special needs are found. Successful completion of the programme qualifies applicants for admission to the more advanced programme Special Education 2 .
