TFL110-1 Norway: Society and Culture

Upon completion of the course, students will be capable of the following: - describe various aspects of Norwegian society from both historical and contemporary perspectives - analyse different explanations regarding developments in Norway - describe similarities and differences between society and culture in Norway and in the student´s home country - distinguish between political, economic, cultural and environmental factors when certain societal systems are delineated and discussed
A survey of Norwegian history, the Norwegian school system, Norwegian language and literature, Norwegian society - economy and politics, Norwegian culture with an emphasis on music, art, food and religion in Norway
Lectures and seminars
5-hour written examination. Graded assessment.
