Work placement builds upon knowledge acquired during the first two years in the Social Work Bachelor programme. For this reason it is connected to all main subject areas in the programme. Previous knowledge must be documented by having passed all examinations in the two previous years.

Upon completion of the course the student will have - Knowledge and understanding of how a social welfare system functions in practice and how social work is conducted in this system - Acquired practical experience in working in partnership with users and other professionals - Increased understanding of the mutual relationship among research, theory and practice - Increased awareness of one´s own values and attitudes, as well as strengthening a competence in communication and collaboration skills.

Students will acquire knowledge of, insight into and training in practical social work.

During work placement students must comply with the work place´s rules and regulations. Students are entitled to one (work) day of study per week during work placement. Each student is entitled to at least two hours of counselling per week. Work placement period lasts for 18 weeks during the autumn semester. Work placement may involve a temporary relocation, since the student is not guaranteed a work placement near his/her home. Preparing for the work placement starts in the spring semester prior to the placement period.

Approved required assignments in connection with the teaching agreement. Written report by mentor regarding the work placement. Pass/fail assessment. For further details, refer to the regulations for client-related work placement (not available in English).
