SE-105-G Introduction to Microeconomics

MA-115 or MA-138 Applied Mathematics in Economics or equivalent
Upon completion of this course the students should have a thorough understanding of micro- and market economics. The students should also have a thorough understanding of how participants co-determine the principle of operation in these forms of markets. The course should also give the students knowledge and understanding of how participants will act in various economical situations. Upon completion of this course the students should have obtained graphical and analytical tools which makes them able to implement economical analysis attached to the topics covered in this course.
Topics: - The economy's ethical basis - History of economic thought - The consumer's needs and economic adaptation - Functions of the market economy - Market structures: free competition, monopolies and monopolistic competition - Characteristics of the market economy's efficiency - Comparison of the various market structures - Governmental intervention in the market
3 hours of lecture and 2 hours of group work per week.
