This practice period is based on the national Frame plan for Pre-school teacher education. Professional-ethic competence implies that the student: shows interest and engagement in personal choice of profession is an active participant and takes responsibility for own assignments shows respect towards children, parents and staff at the pre-school makes use of earlier acquired experiences related to norms and regulations from the practice arena Social competence implies that the student: is independent and makes decisions while at the same time can cooperate with the other adults in the pre-school is an evident leader for children and adults shows engagement and creativity in the teamwork with the children sees and takes into consideration single children´s needs in the group of children Professional competence implies that the student: Norwegian: teaches children´s literature in an engaged way prepares and carries through language stimulating activities for individual children and groups of children Pedagogy: discusses the pres-schools learning environment shows knowledge about children with various ways of learning in planning, carrying out and evaluating learning related activities. Mathematics: arrange for exploration and experimenting with number and shapes. reflects around children´s mathematical development Didactic competence implies that the student: can plan based on the national Pre-school Frame plan, the pre-school´s annual plan and tasks assigned by the coordinating group makes the subjects mathematics, Norwegian and pedagogy visible in the planning, carrying out and evaluation of the main theme this semester discusses and makes use of one or more planning models Change and development competence implies that the student: learns from and builds on personal and others´ experiences shows willingness and ability to change practice resulting from guidance dares to discuss difficult situations in the pre-school is exploring and tries out new work methods raises thoughtful questions regarding the content and practice of the pre-school
The learning outcome is the basis for the content of this practice period 2 weeks, spring, 4th semester Subjects: pedagogy, mathematics and Norwegian Theme: Learning environment, ways of learning, management The student will: discuss expectations with practice teacher write a practice contract use a diary and carry through a pedagogical documentation carry through assignments set by the coordinating group plan, manage and evaluate using a planning model: - single activities - three management days Practice is compulsory.
student, practice teacher and subject teacher contributes with guidance. The practice-teacher at the pre-school has the daily responsibility. 1.5 hours pr week is set aside for guidance. students, practice teachers and subject teachers meet at subject meetings prior to the practice period for information and clarifying expectations
After completed practice the tutor writes an individual written evaluation graded Pass/Fail. The grade is given on the basis of the learning outcome and given criteria for this practice period. The student will present his/her evaluation report for the practice teacher at the start of the next practice period.
