The course is a continuation of> NV-102 Medical and Biological Topics 2
The student will acquire knowledge and understanding of topics within medical and natural sciences in order to be able to provide care for acutely and chronically ill patients. On successful completion of the course, the student should be able to: explain bodily reactions to disease processes , malfunctions and injuries explain how the different processes of a disease can influence human beings with regard to age and lifestyle explain how heredity and environment can influence the development of pathological conditions explain pathological processes as they relate to injury, dysfunction and disease explain how various tests and examinations are used and how treatment is initialised list various groups of medication, explain the effects, side effects and administation of medicational treatment use medical terms and make use of the latest research within the field
ECTS credits distribution based on the National Curriculum: General Pathology, Disease and Pharmacology 12 ECTS credits Microbiology, Preventive Efforts Concerning Infections and Hygiene 3 ECTS credits Areas included: Pathological physiology Diseases regarding the following medication and surgery psychiatry paediatrics gynaecology Physiology of pain Trauma Pharmacology
Lectures and study groups. Compulsory supervision and study groups. The various forms of instruction used in the course are described in the students´ learning management system Fronter (course NV-201).
1. Approved presentation of group assignment. 2. Approved attendance at compulsory supervision. 3. A minimum of 80 % group work attendance is required. Each group selects a student to take register for each meeting. In special cases, if a student should not participate satisfactorily in group assignments, a decision of the candidate´s resignation from the examination can be made by the university in agreement with the Head of Department. A graded 5-hour written individual examination.
