MU-131-1 Music Performance

Bachelor's Programme in Fine Arts - Specialisation in Music , Music, 1-year Programme ,

Practical skills on one instrument. Skills in Music theory.

On successful completion of this course, the students should: - use knowledge of presentation on their main instrument - both artistic and functional - prove development in instrumental/vocal skills. - master accompaniment - for singing and for use in a classroom - be able to instruct, conduct and lead singing and playing in ensembles - master a repertiore of traditional dances

Course contents: - Main instrument - Accompaniment guitar/piano - Student Choir - Conducting / Ensemble direction - Dance

The course makes use of individual guidance, group seminars and lectures. Compulsory attendance. It is expected that the students spend time on individual rehearsal.

- Compulsory attendance, assesses as passed - Participation in ensembles and compulsory dance seminars - Approved repertory on the Main instrument - Approved repertory in Accompaniment guitar/piano

- Practical exam on the Main instrument. Duration 15 minutes (Constitutes 60% of the mark). - Practical exam on Accompaniment guitar/piano. 2-3 songs (Constitutes 40% of the mark). Assessed on the basis A-F (with A as the highest level and F as fail).
