MU-112-1 Didactics of Music in the Practical-Pedagogical-Programme, one subject only

On successful completion of this course, the student should be able to - defend and reflect upon his academic position, practical experience and attitudes to pedagogical work - plan, teach and evaluate musiclessons - use various forms of teachingmethods - attained the following types of competence: social, ethical, leadership, adaptability and development - adapt instruction to the pupils' talents, interests and local conditions - defend and debate educational issues connected to relevant educational theories - show insight in the role and function music has in school, society and the culture in historical, contemporary and future perspectives - be able to draw the subject of music into global and multicultural perspectives

Instruction includes teaching theories of art and music and training students in both didactic reflection and the teaching skills needed to teach music in different schools. During the course the students will be able to reflect on their professional role, their experiences with practice and their attitudes to music in education.

The course includes approximately 60 hours of instruction, including seminar work and study trips. The students will also get supervision of their project work. Students must fullfill an attendance requirement in order to be allowed to take the final examination. More information will be given at semester start.

- Compulsory assignments - Mandatory attendance requirements must be fulfilled - Practice periods must be assessed as a Pass

- Semester paper/project work ( 30 pages) 50 % - One adjusting oral examination (50 %) Assessed on the scale of A-F (with A as the highest mark and F as fail).
