MA-140-1 Mathematics for Teachers 1

After the course the students should be able to know and understand numbers and calculations, how to build a number system have insight in different kinds of mathematical knowledge, central theories of learning, diagnostic teaching and the role of mathematics as a school subject analyze and reflect on their own and the pupils learning and attitudes towards mathematics communicate mathematics orally and written and have insight in the role of language in the teaching and learning of mathematics evaluate their own teaching as well as others, apply didactics and subject knowledge in the meeting with pupils, know different teaching and learning methods

Subject matters: numbers and calculations, algebra, functions, statistics. Didactical matters: different kinds of mathematical knowledge, central theories of learning, diagnostic teaching, mathematics taught in school.

Lectures, seminars, work on computers, work in small groups and an interdisciplinary project in mathematics and pedagogics in groups. Compulsory assignement, oral presentaion and four weeks of teaching experience.

All compulsory assignments and teaching experience must have obtained a Pass.

A 5-hour written examination. Differentiated grades.
