Norwegian or English, according to the contract between student and supervisor.

Completion of the first year of the Master's Degree Programme. Completion of IS-404 is a requirement.

The Master's thesis provides an opportunity to work in-depth with a specific subject area while carrying out a project for a public or private organisation. Students will gain insight into applying theoretical knowledge and scientific methods to a specific problem. The thesis constitutes 30 credits and represents the full workload of one semester. There exists guidelines for the thesis about its breadth, content, process and procedures, supervision, literature, form, delivery, evaluation, intellectual rights and publicity requirements etc. A copy of these thesis guidelines is available in ClassFronter, or can be requested from the faculty. Having successfully completed the course, the student will be able to: understand the scientific and methodological research process in the field of informations systems and its role in knowledge creation do a literature review of a given research field independently plan for a small scale research project choose appropriate research methods for a given research problem in the field of information systems, and discuss pros and cons of varying research methods use the research methods and tools practices during the thesis process indepentently attend a PhD programme in information systems (providing good grades)

There is no ordinary teaching. Students will get master thesis guidance as per agreement.

Presentation (brief lecture) of the work and findings in the master thesis must be approved.

The master thesis constitutes 100% of the final grade. A-F grades with E as the lowest passing grade. The thesis will be evaluated by the supervisor and an external sensor. The master thesis is marked within 6 weeks from the delivery.
