IND505-G Innovation Management

Master's Programme in Industrial and Information Management

Spring, Autumn

Norwegian and English. Lectures are in Norwegian. Textbooks are in English, and international students are offered special tuition in English.

After completing the course, the student is expected to: have good knowledge of how innovation and learning occur in individual firms, and how firms may organise and lead their innovation processes know well how innovation occurs in systems and clusters of firms and institutions, and how external conditions may stimulate and hamper firms´ innovation activity assess how firms may improve their innovation processes

The course consists of two main parts. Part 1 focuses on innovation processes in individual firms. Central themes are how knowledge development, learning and innovation occur in firms, and how firms can organise and manage innovation processes. Part 2 concentrates on how firms collaborate with different other actors in innovation processes. The focus is how innovation occurs in clusters and systems of firms and institutions and how firms´ innovation is stimulated and hampered by the environment. The course aims to link the two parts in an understanding of how firms can develop their innovation strategies.
