IND501-G Supply Chain Management
Master's Programme in Industrial and Information Management
Autumn
Norwegian and English. Lectures are in Norwegian. Textbooks are in English, and international students are offered special tuition in English.
After completing the course, the student is expected to: understand, analyze and work on leadership and developement of complex value chains consisting of different actors and stake holders work with improvement planning and implementation in firms and in the relationships between firms on basis of theoretical informed methods, to achieve a better flow of materials and information and competitive abilities
Subjects to be treated, related to management and development of value chains: The concept of management of value chains and supply chain management Principals for production planning and control and principal-agent theory and expected behaviour in relationships between firms. Strategic trade off between efficiency and responsiveness in relationship to different drivers (facilities, inventory, transport, information, purchasing/procurement, prising) and in relation to firms competitive strategy Value chains and competitive strategy Design of value chains/supply chains The concept of lean production and lean construction, lean production versus innovation capability, customer service, transport and logistics, procurement Methods for process mapping Teaching will build upon examples from different branches of industry. Students may also profit from taking courses in strategical economy management, risk analysis and project management.
Lectures, group work and project work, self-tuition.
Portfolio (55 % contribution to final assessment) and oral examination (45 % contribution to final assessment). Graded assessment. The portfolio must be assessed to Pass to take the oral examination.
