IND406-G Operational Analysis and Logistics

After completing the course, the student is expected to: have basic knowledge of firms´ logistics, value chain and production networks, and of operational analytical models be able to describe models and theories about value chains and use these in discussions of central questions regarding value chains be able to use mathematical models for optimal decisions about production and management in firms in operation analyses
The course consists of two main parts. Central themes in part 1 are firms´ value chain and logistics, networks, and supplier relations between firms, globalisation and international logistics, and innovation in value chains. This part also includes visits in firms that illustrate issues of special interest. Part 2 includes introduction to management science. Central themes are KRV analysis, product choice, linear programming, network models, project planning, stock holding, decision analysis and simulation.
Lectures, excursions and exercises.
Satisfactory submission of compulsory exercises.
Written examination, 4 hours (50 % contribution to final assessment) and portfolio (50 % contribution to final assessment). Graded assessment. The portfolio must be assessed to Pass to take the examination.
