IDR117-2 Fitness Coach

Health and Fitness Training, One-semester Programme

Students ought to be in general good physical condition and must be able to actively participate in practical lessons.

After having completed the course, the students will have acquired knowledge and skills which make them able to: carry out individual based coaching in fitness centres, preventative actions regarding health, gymnasiums etc. based on strength training endurance training practical mobility training diet counselling apply relevant theory in order to design, carry through and evaluate training programmes/-plans primarily for healthy people with different prerequisites, needs and aims explain and carry out good practical instructional technique (spotting) have the ability to communicate and be able to motivate and stimulate to the individual's well-being be good role models

Training supervisor Instruction and practical instructional technique (spotting) Theory of training related to strength, practical mobility and endurance training Practical condition training, practical mobility training and endurance training Anatomy and biomechanics related to strength training Training programme Nutrition and diet recommendations

Lectures, group work, demonstrations, work in gymnasium, observations with complementary work, self studies, assignments and task coaching. The course comprises both theory and practical training. Throughout the course the theoretical part is related to practical instructional exercises Students are expected to acquire parts of the course contents by individual studies. The practical lessons are compulsory and 100 % attendance is required.

The examination consists of to parts which are equally weighted: A graded 45-minute individual practical exam A graded 2-hour written individual school-exam Both parts must be passed. One graded mark is given.
