HEL402-A1 Clinical Nursing Science - Core Topics

HEL400 Foundations of Health Science (10 credits) HEL401 Foundations of Clinical Nursing Science (10 credits)

After having completed the course, students will: be able to further develop the professional nursing knowledge which is the basis for the assessment of the needs of patients and relatives have an insight in the importance of stress in: patients´ experience of illness/ for example pain the role of relatives the nurse´s experience of his/her professional role be able to make use of decision theory in clinical everyday life analyze and discuss difficult situations through ethical reflection

- Meeting the patient and his/her relatives: Professional relations (communication, confidence, power) - Health promoting, preventive, treating, rehabilitating and palliative functions - Stress and overcoming stress (patient, relatives, and nurse) - Clinical decision processes and interventions - Clinical ethics

Lectures and seminars. Please see the course brochure for compulsory teaching.

The student must have attended compulsory seminars.

Individual written at home examination with duration of 48 hours (for example an article on clinical problems related to the relation between clinical nursing science and the nursing services). Adjusting oral presentation. The examination will be graded. Please see the course brochure for more details.
