After having completed the course, the student will have aquired a theoretical platform in the traditions of Norwegian Outdoor activities. Which cultural inheritances we develop, the functions and responsibilities we have when using outdoor activities for teaching, development and experience for various groups of users. This means that the student will: know the history of Norwegian Outdoor Activities be able to evaluate natural environments in a cultural historical perspective know the environments' special character and tolerance / tolerability know the development of society, people's lifestyles and relationship to the environment know how the nature can be an arena for health and recreation be able to explain how outdoor activities can be a result of a social ecological construction be able to understand how the natural environment can be used as a resource for tourism / business development know how society administer the natural environment
Outdoor activities history in Norway The environment in a cultural - historical perspective. The environment's unique character and tolerance level. The development of society, people's lifestyles and relationship to the environment. Nature as an arena for health and recreation. Outdoor activities as socio-ecological construction The natural environment as a resource for tourism / business development. Environmental management. Friluftslivets historie i Norge. Naturmiljøer i et kulturhistorisk perspektiv. Naturmiljøers særpreg, tåleevne. Samfunnsutvikling, menneskets livssituasjon og forhold til naturmiljø. Naturen som arena for helse og rekreasjon.- Friluftsliv som sosialøkologisk konstruksjon. Naturmiljøet som ressurs for turisme/næringsutvikling. Forvaltning av naturmiljøet.
Teaching will be given in blocks throughout the term. An introductory course (lectures) at campus will be followed by field trips (please refer to FRI110) and a final period of lectures at campus.There may possibly be short excursions.
A graded 4-hour written individual exam.
