FIL101-1 Philosophy of Religion with Metaphysics
Bachelor's Programme in Religion, Ethics and Culture , Religion and Ethics, One year programme , Philosophy, One-year Programme
Spring
Norwegian
After having completed the course the students will have knowledge about the basic problems and positions within the current philosophy of religion. -What is the relationship between belief and reason, and between religion and science? -What is religious experience? -How can we understand religious plurality? -What is evil, and why does evil exist?
Philosophy of religion makes use of philosophical tools to deepen our understanding of religion as a phenomenon, both regarding what we believe in, and the role faith plays in our lives. Philosophers of religion have a philosophical approach to religious experience and the content of faith, and to the relationship between the different religions. The student will experience that several of these topics raise a number of metaphysical questions. Metaphysics is the traditional discipline of philosophy which raises the question of what is, or exists, and in what way it exists.
