Upon completion of the course, students should be able to: Explain the historical background of social science Critically assess the research results of social science Make ethical judgements related to social science research
Students will through the course gain insight into historical and institutional lines of development in social science, and how social science tradition and research differ from natural science.Furthermore, the course provides knowledge of the methods of social science, research traditions, models and how social/sociological research contributes to decision making in planning, administration and politics. Ethical dilemmas related to social science as a basis of professional practice are also addressed.

Approved mandatory assignments.
A 5-hours individual written examination.
