EN-411-1 Language and Communication, Core Course
Autumn

Upon successful completion of the course the student shall -be able to account for the development of major approaches to linguistic research -be able to discuss a variety of linguistic topics using appropriate terminology. -have a basic familiarity with the analysis of language data within phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics, as well as an ability to investigate these data according to modern research principles.
The aim of the course is to give the students a common theoretical and academic basis for further specialisation and choise of topic for a master's thesis.
Seminars
A compulsory essay written under supervision must be assessed as a Pass. An oral presentation of two assigned topics must be assessed as a Pass.
4-hour written examination or home examination, information about exam form will be given at the latest 8 weeks before the exam. Graded assessment.
