EN-134-1 Modern British Fiction
Bachelor's Programme in English , , English, One-year Programme
Spring
English
After completing the course the student shall - be able to account for the British contemporary novel and its sub-genres. - have developed an understanding of how large socio-political and technological changes have influenced contemporary narrative strategies.
The course gives an introduction to the genre of the novel as it is expressed in Britain in novels written after 1990. Emphasis is placed on the changes and constants in the use of the genre compared to the "classical" and modern novels. The complexity of a globalized and post-industrial world has led to changes in the traditional genres and led to new narrative mixed structures.
