Bachelor's Programme in Translation and Intercultural Communication - English
Autumn
English
After having completed the course students will have - acquired knowledge and understanding of how the different elements of language contribute to meaning, and the function of these elements in the process of sense making - acquired necessary knowledge of the grammar of English, so as to be able to express themselves correctly in written communication
The course focuses on two aspects: lexicon and syntax on sentence level and text linguistic structures on text level, with a view to text comprehension and text production in various communicative situations. Presentation and structuring of information are dealt with on sentence level, and cohesion, meaning, intention and function in various contexts on text level. The aspects are studied from a contrastive perspective. The course comprises 10 ECTS credits in the autumn semester and 10 in the spring semester
Lectures/seminars
Six obligatory assignments in the autumn semester and six in the spring semester must all be assessed as a Pass.
Two days' home examination in text analysis, text production and grammar. Graded assessment.
