EN-131-1 Literature, Culture and Didactics (English 2)

EN-129 Literature, Culture and Didactics
After having completed the course, the students will - have acquired knowledge of the National Curriculum (LK06) and the competency aims in English in L06 - have extended their knowledge of Bristish and American culture and literature from EN-129 - be strengthened their didactic competence to teach pupils in lower secondary school - have knowledge of authentic English literature from various genres, in addition to children´s literature and literature for young adults - be able to make use of a varied range of texts and topics in the foreign language classroom - have learnt to use ICT in their own learning and for teaching purposes
The contents of the course comprise older literature and history as well as literature for young adults and other forms of expression by and for teenagers. Teaching theory related to presenting literature and culture is another aspect of the course and so is didactics and practical methodology.
Lectures and seminars. 80% compulsory attendance requirement at seminars.
Attendance requirement: 80% compulsory attendance at seminars. For students in their third year of the Teacher Education: A 2-week teaching practice in lower secondary school must be assessed as a Pass. For students in their fourth year of the Teacher Education and other students: One compulsory assignment must be assessed as a Pass. For further specifications see the English 2 curriculum.
A 4-hour written examination (counts 50%) and an oral examination (counts 50%). Graded assessment.
