DAT107-G Digital Circuits and Microprocessors

After completing the course, the student should have knowledge about the fundamentals of digital circuits, Boolean algebra, number systems and microprocessors.

Logic circuits. Boolean algebra. Number systems. Logic and arithmetic operations. Symbolic addressing. Addressing methods, procedures and interrupts. Flowcharts. Control of in-/out-units. Assembly language. Use of development equipment for AVR micro controllers.

Lectures, compulsory exercises and laboratory work. The exercises take place in the electronics laboratory on customized computers with specialized hardware and software. A laboratory engineer, student assistant and/or course lecturer is present. The students get training in development and use of professional software and hardware. The classes are split into groups of suitable sizes so that all students get access to necessary equipment and the help they need to solve the exercises. Some of the exercises involve group work. The problems for the students to solve, are typically development of own programmes and hardware.

Students must pass the compulsory assignments in order to take the examination. The compulsory assignments are given in Fronter by the start of the semester.

Written examination, 3 hours. Graded assessment.
