BYG106-G Road and Traffic Engineering
Civil Engineering, Bachelor Programme , 2-year Programme in Civil Engineering, 2-year Programme

Norwegian.
After completing the course, the student is expected to: plan and explain road traffic initiative with respect to passable road, traffic safety, environment and costs planning of roads and appurtenant installations with respect to line choice, geometrical design according to prevailing legal claims and regulations, environment and aesthetic design
An introduction to transport systems, traffic and road user characteristics, aesthetics, functionality and road safety. Based on knowledge of Norwegian legal claims and regulations on road engineering (Hb 017), students are working on planning and adapting roads to actual situations.
Lectures 2 hours per week and exercises 2 hours per week. Guest lectures, excursions and project work in group.
Satisfactory submission of compulsory exercises.
Written examination, 3 hours (60 % contribution to final assessment) and portfolio with project work (40 % contribution to final assessment. Graded assessment. The portfolio must be assessed to Pass to take the written examination. The candidate may be examined orally with regards to the portfolio. The examination may give basis for individual assessment also on the group work.
