BIO110-1 Cell Biology and Histology

After the course the student is expected to be able to Give a survey of the essential features of the structure and function of animal and plant cells, and procaryotic cells Describe cellular respiration and photosynthesis Describe the cell cycle and division Recognise and describe several mammalian organs and tissues on a histological level Produce paraffin sections

Introduction to the structure and function of procaryote and eukaryote cells, and to elementary histology. The histology part of the course accounts for about three credits.

Instruction is comprised of lectures, laboratory exercises and fieldwork. The students are required to participate actively in the laboratory exercises and fieldwork and submit compulsory reports.

A satisfactory completion of the fieldwork, laboratory exercises and reports is required before the student is allowed to take the final examination.

A four-hour written examination. Differentiated grades.
