BE-304-1 Statistics and Finance

Minimum 60 ECTS credits in Business Administration
Upon completion of this course students should be able to find and analyze different types of data economic and administrative interest assess different types of design of experiments and statistical methods. The students should also be able to evaluate if the basis for a method is satisfied. Ethical questions related to some type of experiments will also be discussed calculate and interpret different statistical measures for relationship in data use multiple regression and interpret the results in view of econometric problems use analysis of variance and interpret the results
This course will give the students a more deep understanding of how statistical methods are used in financial economics than the first course on statistics. The students will learn to collect data from different sources and data-bases and use the data in analysis. The course will therefore help the students to connect mathematics/statistics to financial models ant theories. Advanced use of MS Excel will be a part of the course.
Lectures, group work and PC-lab
1 assignment must be handed in and be approved in order to sit for the exam.
4-hour written examination. Graded marks.
