Upon completion of this course the students will be able to - explain direct, marginal and absorption costs and their use in pricing - apply cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis and interpret the results - apply different costing and accounting systems - explain the role of budgets and standard costing within organisations - prepare and interpret budgets, standard costs and variance statements. - Explain different methods and techniques in decision analysis - Formulate and solve basic decision problems

This is an introductory course in business. The course covers basic methods and techniques of management accounting. It will cover cost theory, budgets and variance statements. Finally, the course will also give a basic introduction to quantitative decision analysis.

2-4 hours of lectures per week
