Applications are welcomed from students who are training to become teachers and from students who are studying education in courses that do not in themselves lead to qualified teacher status. It is recommended that students have completed two years of a teacher preparation program, a bachelor degree in education or related field.
The program is an introduction to comparative educational studies with an emphasis on three areas: (1) the process of learning through international comparisons using Norway as a point of departure, (2) the phenomena of integration, inclusion and special education on a global level, and (3) comparative case study research methods. The intention of the program is to foster comparative research and study skills, thereby helping students to become internationally aware practitioners and scholars.
Students will gain a basic knowledge of research methods in comparative educational studies, differences and similarities between the Norwegian and other educational contexts, and an awareness of major considerations with regard to integration and inclusion of excluded groups.
Working methods will involve a combination of lectures, group work, self-study, individual tutorials and visits to schools or other institutions.
Written group assignment, Individual written report, Oral presentation and a practice report individual or in group (2 persons)
