Higher Education Entrance Qualification

The programme prepares students to work with children, adolescents or adults who have special educational needs and require special support, in a variety of learning arenas (including schools, employment centres and hospitals)

The programme qualifies students for displaying understanding of inclusion as ideology and as it relates to the individual. Students will be able to recognize various learning disabilities and educational needs as well as organize instruction based on students' various qualifications and needs. They will also learn how to implement educational and rehabilitative initiatives.

Lectures, seminars, groupworks and written assignments. The teaching is based on research. Some of the lectures may have a mandatory attendance requirement.

Students may spend the 4th or 5th semester at a university with which Agder University has a collaborative agreement.

Completion of the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Special Education is the admission requirement for being admitted to a Master's Degree Programme in Education/Special Education. Possible vocational areas for graduates include sheltered workshops and the Norwegian Employment Service.

Completion of the programme awards a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education.
