Higher Education Entrance Qulification
The programme emphasises Political Science subjects such as Public Policy and Administration, International Politics, Political Theory, Organisation Theory and Comparative Politics. In addition, the programme includes Law, Economics, Research Methods and Sociology, which in sum ensures an interdisciplinary perspective.
The Bachelor's Programme in Political Science provides both theoretical and practical professional skills. Students will acquire knowledge of our local and central government, both in a national and international perspective. Furthermore, students will examine the interaction between public administration and the general public.
Various types of teaching methods will be utilised, such as group lectures, group work, seminars and working with master's theses. Traditional teaching methods in certain courses will be combined with use of the Internet and development-oriented project assignments. A variety of different evaluation forms will be utilised. The exam may be either written or oral, individual or group. For example, it may be a reflection assignment, a take-home examination or a combination of several assessment forms.
It is possible to complete the third year at one of our cooperating institutions in Europe and the USA. Please note that there are a limited number of student places.
On completion of the programme, graduates will be qualified for middle management and executive positions in the public sector. In addition, graduates will have the necessary background for administrative work in trade and industry, non-profit or special interest organisations. Completion of the programme qualifies the graduate for admission to the Master's Programme in Public Administration at Agder University College (AUC).
Successful completion of the programme awards the degree of Bachelor of Political Science.
