Arts and Crafts, 1-year Programme

High School diploma or High School equivalency exam or relevant work experience.
The students will through their practical work develop their own aesthetic appraisal and increase their practical and theoretical skills. They will also receive knowledge of suitable materials and tools for children. The programme will also give the students knowledge of architecture, Norwegian and European art and handicraft and design through the last two hundred years. This programme qualifies for work with arts and crafts in Primary and Secondary School.

The Examination Regulations of the University of Agder regulate the graduation requirements for each programme of study.
On successful completion of the programme students are expected to - Have developed their own creative powers - Have acquired practical and theoretical insight - Have acquired knowledge in educating in the field
This programme assumes independent work in addition to ordinary lessons. The four workshops will be available in the afternoon. Compulsory attendance will be required for parts of the courses (see course descriptions). The programme also includes compulsory practice training. Research and development project is a compulsory part of the programme for students who are in their 4th year of a Teacher Education.

This programme qualifies for work with arts and crafts in Primary and Secondary School.
Compulsory trip each semester. Duration: 2 - 3 days. The students have to pay a fee equivalent NOK 1500,- in autumn term and NOK 1000,- in spring term.
